Mick Ball has a genuine passion for motorcycles and has been in the industry for 26 years. Starting at the age of 5 with a Honda XR 75 Mick's interest in bikes grew rapidly. Racing Motorcross through his teenage years he then turned to Road racing production bikes until his curiosity had him swinging off a sidecar competing in the West Australian Road Racing Championships. A Motorcycle Mechanical apprenticeship soon followed at Bikeworld in Belmont where Mick learnt his trade on Harley-Davidson, Ducati's and Suzuki bikes. His desire for more technical knowledge lead him to work for George Forward Motorcycle Engineering where he discovered frame straightening, all aspects of Suspension Servicing and Engine Reconditioning.

The travel bug then saw Mick travel around Australia for 6 years working in bike shops as he broadened his experience on all brands, including working with the Jack Daniel's Nitro Harley drag racing team out of Brisbane. In 1998 Mick and his wife to be Sharelle moved to Albany WA to purchase Great Southern Motorcycles. They have since built Great Southern Motorcycles into one of WA's most respected motorcycle businesses. When Mick's not racing his V-Rod Destroyer he'll probably be out with Sharelle and their kids Jessica and Jacob on their Heritage Softail fitted with a sidecar for the family. Mick also enjoys fishing and shooting and spending time with family and friends.

Sharelle grew up in Brisbane surrounded by motorcycles and engines from her father and brothers. She met Mick in 1998 and was working in Admin roles at the time. She moved with Mick when he bought Great Southern Motorcycles. In 2001 Sharelle came on board and started working in the business in whichever department needed her.

It was only natural that Mick’s passion for motorcycles would rub off on Sharelle and she now loves them and can’t imagine life without some form of 2 wheels. Sharelle commits herself to Great customer service and spreads her time between the business and raising her and Mick’s two children. She now has to fight her son if she wants to have a ride on the motorbikes as she has yet to get her license.

Having collected years of knowledge about all aspects of the business she’s certainly your go-to person for any queries. So don’t forget to say hello to her next time you’re in.

Ian's other interests are fishing and he tries to get to Exmouth with his boat at least once a year (but not always successful). Photography is a hobby he shares with his lovely wife Leonie.
